Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Company and Bitter Creek Pipelines, LLC have worked to reduce the number of evaporation ponds at pipeline compressor stations by using tanks to capture oil wastes at the stations. The tanks were initially installed within a protective culvert to eliminate the possibility of pollution from leaks. The companies have evolved to using double-walled tanks for greater protection.
