Knife River Corporation - North Central Division's Partners for Parks program is an initiative designed to give something back to the communities in which it operates through the enhancement of public spaces that can be enjoyed by all. Operating throughout most of central Minnesota, Knife River receives many requests each year to contribute to community service projects.
The program allows civic organizations and city councils to apply for a grant for public works projects that enhance parks and other public spaces in their communities. Knife River provides selected projects with resources including equipment, labor and a variety of construction materials, such as aggregate, asphalt, concrete and black dirt. The program was implemented in 1998 and has donated more than $230,000 worth of support for more than 150 projects in the communities in which it operates. Partners for Parks is one of many examples of how the corporation strives to be a good neighbor.
The Partners for Parks program was honored in 2001 as a Silver Medal winner of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association's Community Relations "Good Neighbor" Award.
