This group of companies offers utilities and large manufacturing, commercial, government and institutional customers a diverse array of products and services. These companies specialize in constructing and maintaining electric and communication lines, natural gas pipelines, fire suppression systems, and external lighting and traffic signalization equipment. This segment also provides utility excavation services and inside electrical wiring, cabling and mechanical services, sells and distributes electrical materials, and manufactures and distributes specialty equipment.

In addition to its growing design-build, construction and maintenance services, MDU Construction Services manufactures, sells, rents and maintains line construction and tensioning equipment for utilities and power line and telecommunications contractors. MDU Construction Services companies have offices in 16 states and are licensed to do business in 44 states.
MDU Construction Services operates under four lines of business:
- Inside electrical and mechanical services.
- Outside transmission and distribution, traffic and signalization.
- Industrial and energy.
- Equipment manufacturing, rental and sales.
Although we entered this line of business in 1997, our experience in providing infrastructure services for utility operations dates back to the beginning of our corporation in the early 1920s.
